Is there a way to remove this manually? There are two icons in the system tray, ConnectWise and ScreenConnect. When I uninstall this, it looks like the program has been uninstalled – but following a reboot it returns. I have been through all the group policies to see if it is being pushed out, but it doesn’t look to be. I have googled this topic, but all I have read seems to require the main console to remove it properly, or some expert scripting knowledge, which I don’t have.

Many thanks in advance if anyone can help. The Screen Connect agent is probably being reinstalled via gpo. Check your active directory group policies and whether they have the installation msi set there. Before you remove anything, I would take a look at your contract that was signed by whomever internally, to ensure you’re not breaching expectations before it expires.

I agree, it sounds like you have a GPO reinstalling it. This way when we add a new computer or server it doesn’t get installed until we move it into the proper OU. It also allows us to add systems to test certain things without getting all the management tools installed.

Hopefully this helps guide you in the right direction. But I can tell you for sure that Connectwise doesn’t just re-install itself it needs a GPO to do this. Hopefully as you look at things they have stuff documented or labeled something that can help you find the GPO and disable it. One thing you can do is gpo a script to disable the screen connect service lol.

Thanks for all the responses. It’s very odd that ScreenConnect should return. I did think it was obviously a group policy was pushing it out. But I have been through all the GPO’s. I can find no obvious reference to it. FYI the contract has already expired, so I want to disable their access to our systems, and generally practice good housekeeping. I will get to the bottom of it and post the results. One other place to look is perhaps they have it as part of a logon script somewhere.

The odd thing is that not all new PC’s are getting the software pushed out. We have had a few laptops rolled out receltly lol but they were not added to the MSP’s contract as we knew we would be parting company.

I will check the log in script though. OK, I think I have gotten to the bottom of it! This is something I should have really checked for, but didn’t. A few reboots later and it hasn’t returned. I think the reason it did return was that one of the ConnectWise services had a description along the lines of “checks to ensure MSP’s name software is installed and running”.

Thanks for all your comments, offering me different paths to investigate. Hopefully if anyone goes through the same thing, this thread may help them. I am going to mark Tim’s as thr best answer as it was his comment that made me examine all the services running.

However this LT Agent can leave many things behind that can cause you some issues. I would just suggest system refreshes even if you are able to have the Agent s removed.
